ITC also sold the series in half hour blocks, in which every episode was edited into two instalments, with each first part ending on a cliffhanger. As a result this doubled the number of episodes, and became a popular alternative for broadcasters. This format remained for sale up to ITC’s collapse, and received an overhaul when Carlton bought Thunderbirds in 1999.
