Kagome's grandmother is the wife of Grandpa Higurashi and the mother of Mr. Higurashi. According to the InuYasha novel, she died soon after her son was killed in the car accident, which left her husband as a widower. She is also the mother-in-law of Mrs Higurashi and the grandmother of Kagome and Sōta, and in the ending the posthumous grandmother-in-law of Inuyasha.
