Van Helsing thought it was much better than modern vampire romances like Silverlight, but the book was not selling well at the Vampire Palooza, even after the supposed return of Lord Valdronya. Lita Rutland bought one copy from Van Helsing and then mockingly threw it into a trashcan. Van Helsing's real financial hopes were on another book he had just written, The Bride of the Vampire, which he hoped would become a best-seller after he pulled off a vampire wedding ceremony.
