Greater claw bugs are monsters in ADOM. They tend to show up in the later game, and can be found in large abundance in the Bug Temple. Greater claw bugs are much more dangerous than their lesser counterparts. They are very fast and evasive, can spawn further instances, and can execute a huge number of attacks per turn (the number is quoted as eight for level 1 GCBs; however, this is usually a lot more in practice due to their speed). As with all claw bugs, these attacks are very accurate and always penetrate armor. Taking them on melee is usually not recommended unless the PC has extreme DV, to-hit and damage; even still, there is a threat of them spawning further instances of themselves and surrounding the PC.
