Rufe Parsons is a farmer who lives in Walnut Grove. Parsons once hired Laura to help with tasks around the farmyard. Instead of taking money, Laura agrees to take the farmer's troubled goat. Laura was afraid that Rufe will harm the goat if she does not take it with her. Apparently, Rufe has had his fill of the goat's misbehavior.
