Juan Francisco Carlos Eduardo Agustin Jose de Iturbide y Hapsburg (7 November 1900 - 11 June 1951) was the Emperor of Mexico from 1930 until 1951, reigning as Juan II. Ascending the throne following the death of his brother Agustin V, Juan II oversaw a period of closening ties with the United States, increased industrialization in Mexico, and a new position as a regional power. Unable to produce heirs during his reign, his sudden death (often attributed health complications due to his weight) brought his cousin to the throne as Carlos I.
