Condottieres are mercenary commanders, usually found in an elevated position, directing forces while offering long-range fire support with their gauss guns. They are also sometimes found operating alone in an attempt to assassinate or at least hinder the player, but usually will attempt to bog you down in fireteams of ordinary mercenaries, allowing an easier killshot while their target is tied up. They also have the Consecrate ability, which will place a debuff on the player in the form of a radar 'ping' that will attract nearby merc groups to the player's position and causes them to attack him.
