Sonic first heard of this new Badnik whilst in Kintobor's Laboratory. The Kintobor Computer informed of new Badnik activity in the Marble Garden Zone, prompting him to use the Hyper-Spring in order to get himself (and, inadvertantly, Amy Rose) to the Floating Island. The experiment was deemed to be a failure, as no more Combiniks were ever built.
