In 1960, brothers James and Tom Monahagan bought, DomiNick's a small pizzeria in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Eight months later, James Monahagan gave his share in the business to his brother in exchange for a second-hand car. Tom Monahagan, then the sole owner of the business, changed its name to Domino's Pizza Inc. in 1965. The first franchise store was opened in Ypsilanti in 1967. By 1978, there were two hundred Domino's Pizza outlets across the United States.
