In 2154 this system displayed a sensor grid on a bridge monitor depicting the fleet triangulation plan to detect the Romulan drone ship. (ENT: "United") During the first season of the series, many S/COMS computer screens on that ship featured a distinctive column of rectangular status icons on the right side. As the series progressed, a second, and eventually a third column of status icons were added, as the colors of those icons became stronger. Episodes set in the future of the show's main timeline had screens with even more columns of icons. This was intended to imply a technological progression leading toward the blinking icon display that dominated the bridge of Kirk's Enterprise in the original series, set a century after Archer's ship.
