The SS Rosenberg was a Federation Seidman-class long-distance colonizer in service in the mid-23rd century. In 2243, the Rosenberg carried 14 families near the Romulan Neutral Zone, when it became trapped within an ionic storm cluster and was heavily damaged. The colonists managed to get a distress call out, and Starfleet ordered the half-complete USS Enterprise to rescue the Rosenberg, as it was the most advanced starship in the area at that time. After some difficulties with the Romulans, the Enterprise rescued the colonists, but the Rosenberg was lost. (TOS novel: Final Frontier)
