Universal Pictures was taken over by MCA in 1962 as part of the merger between MCA and Decca Records. Universal was the parent company of Decca. MCA/Universal was created in 1990 as a distribution label for video and later for DVD and TV. MCA/Universal was the distributor of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess and Young Hercules .
