When he was a child he was already chosen for his future when his father gave his old ring he was able to become apart of the Green Latern Corp calling himself the Green Lantern. He learned and praticed and became as great as Sinestro before turning bad. Soon during one mission he came in contact with a cosmic being that set itself into his ring. He found himself in the Green Lantern Corp Care Room and was soon called upon by the Guardians of the Universe. They found out that Ion has set itself into his ring and has chosen him. They soon found that he was the chosen one, the Lantern to bring peace to the Universe. He was told that in order to bring peace to the universe he had to have all the colored rings. He was soon given one of the Oan Rings and was renamed the Green Guardian.
