Walter Harold Arthur Oscar Alois Stein (1897-17 August 1967) was a solicitor and politician Born in Liverpool, he was the son of Sigmund Stein, manager of a sugar refinery and his wife Eugenia. His father was born in Germany and his mother in Austria and both were naturalised British subjects. He studied at Cambridge, graduating with an MA in 1938. He set up a legal practice, Walter Stein & Grover, in Woolwich. Labour Party member of the London County Council representing Woolwich East 1955-64. He resigned from the county council on 8th September 1964.
