The Red Eye was finished just before the Second Battle of Earth on the Mars ship yards, which the Covenant at least thus far had avoided. The Frigate was sent to Earth to provide support for UNSC space forces, but was forced to retreat to the ground after receiving direct orders from Lord Admiral Hood to provide air cover for UNSC forces around East Africa. The Red Eye survived the war, along with all of it's crew, and was attached to Battlegroup Kilo under the command of Captain Gregory Zackemah.
