The Battle of Naboo, also known as the Liberation of Naboo, was a major battle fought between the Republic and the Galactic Empire in early 5 ABY. The battle resulted in the end of Imperial control over the Naboo system and eventually to a return of democratic rule on Naboo after more the twenty years of dictatorship. The Battle began as an armed uprising against the Empire by members of the Royal Naboo Security Force and their Gungun allies in the aftermath of the bloody Naboo Uprising and the subsequent failed plot to overthrow Imperial Moff Quarsh Panaka. Eventually, New Republic forces arrived to aid the rebels. After a fierce battle in which the Republic forces were forced to call in reinforcements of their own, the Naboo were finally able to oust the Imperial garrison from their plan
