Arthur Galzethron was the judge who presided over Kate's trial. He allowed Jack to take the witness stand, and he allowed Melissa to ask Jack if he loved Kate, to which he untruthfully answered no. Later, he was informed by Melissa that Kate's mother had pulled out of the trial due to "medical reasons".
