Carl Regan is a defender who signed for Rovers in July 2009 on a two-year contract, after having rejected Milton Keynes Dons offer of a new deal to remain with them. He was a regular in the Rovers first team under manager Paul Trollope, but when Trollope was replaced by Dave Penney in January 2011 Regan found himself frozen out of the action–Penney initially preferring to play central defender Byron Anthony out of position at right-back to having Regan in his natural spot, before signing Danny Senda as a more direct replacement. This led to Carl joining Notts County on loan in February 2011, and eventually being released at the end of the 2010–11 season.
