Yurika is a 15-year-old friend of Jirô and accompanies him to the cryogenics research lab for a visit. There, they are shown around by Kazuko, but when an earthquake strikes they are forced to seek refuge in the cryogenic chambers. They awake in another era where apes have replaced humans.
