The 1965 World 600 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 23, 1965. Fred Lorenzon won the pole, lead 267 of 400 laps and cruised to a 6.4 second victory on Earl Balmer. Eventual 1965 champion Ned Jarrett had an engine fail and finished 20th. Stats
