Kaya is a widely known and respected shinobi, despite her status as a missing-nin and is viewed as one of the greatest shinobi. She is revered as the "Goddess of Ash" for her frequent use of the Fire Release: Ash Pile Burning as well as advances in the use of ash in ninjutsu, developing her own ninjutsu style, similar to Konan's paper-based ninjutsu. Her renown as a shinobi (and as the prodigal daughter of the Third) is high enough that Jiraiya of the Sannin trio knew of her when he encountered her for the first time when she was young and even when he encountered her again in her adulthood.
