Dunkelvolk was a fanatical follower of Doctor Matthias Jäger and eagerly helped him search for the Philosopher's Stone in 1947. During his search, Dunkelvolk was captured by Soviet Forces and locked in a prison where he met Indiana Jones. After seeing the latter escape from prison, Dunkelvolk pleaded Indy to release him as well, promising him a great reward. Indy denied him his freedom but Dunkelvolk managed to free himself anyway.
