Ninube Hotaru was a childlike shapeshifter who was the Nothing's chief agent in the Eternal Danger Islands. He was born the daughter of a ronin and a geisha whose soul was already lost to the Darkness. Hotaru inherited his mother's corruption, and was consumed at the age of eight. His father managed the Inn of the Last Light.
