Louis-François de Lavardac, duc d'Arcachon (born 1634) is a French Admiral, father of Étienne d’Arcachon and cousin to Louis XIV. He helped build many ships of the French Navy. He had taken Eliza and her mother from Qwghlm as slaves. Jack Shaftoe had made it his mission to kill the man as revenge. His son Étienne d'Arcachon is also known as the "most polite man in France" who at one point has his arm severed by Jack as he grasps the bridle of Jack's horse during a masquerade ball. The later story is that Etienne had cut off his own hand to keep from shaming his family.
