The University of Calcutta (also known as Calcutta University) is a public university located in the city of Kolkata (previously Calcutta), India, founded in 24 January 1857. It was the first modern university in the Indian subcontinent. After the Battle of Earth, the Office of Naval Intelligence used this university along with the University of Edinburgh to research Xenoarchaeological information on the Forerunner ruins.
