Zompires are a specific breed of vampire that appeared in Season 9 of Buffy, due to the destruction of the "Seed" in Season 8 most magic in the world was now gone and as a result demons could no longer Sire intelligent vampires, instead when a demon possessed a vampire it transformed them into a mindless, savage beast which Xander dubbed "Zompires" (a mix of "Zombie" and "Vampire"). Due to the lack of magic in the world all vampires Sired in Season 9 are considered "Zompires".
