Paroo was head of Commonwealth Security and a Collector who was allied with the Spirit of the Abyss, which was trying to destroy the Commonwealth and implicate Dylan Hunt. He orchestrated the Battle of Enga's Redoubt, in which he sent Commonwealth vessels to their certain destruction. He also orchestrated Tri-Jema's capture. He brought her to the All Forces Nullification Point where Dylan would find them, and convinced her the planet they were on was safe. However, he was insane and had developed a multiple personality disorder, because of the Abyss's presence in his mind. However, during a fight, Dylan repeatedly shot him, revealing the Abyss in him.
