The 1972 Volunteer 500 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Bristol Motor Speedway on July 9, 1972. Bobby Allison led 445 of 500 laps in route to a dominating 3-lap victory over eventual season champion Richard Petty.
