Dr. Savage invents Dr. Savage's Helmet that permits its user to travel through time. He insists his assistant, Miss Arkady, be the first test subject for the helmet. She reluctantly agrees. He places the helmet on her head and sets the dial at 10. After a ugly hissing sound, Miss Arkady is transported from 1954 to 1964. She arrives in the center of a riot. A man with a gun threatens to rob her. She cries for the police to help her, but the man laughs it off, saying there haven't been police officers for the past 10 years. She thinks to flee, but the man shoots her.
