The 1901 Atlantic hurricane season was the least active season ever recorded. From January 1 to December 31, no tropical cyclones were ever recorded in the Atlantic. This was because, due to lack of modern technology, information is often sparse, and additional tropical cyclones possibly existed but they were never recorded. Historical records also indicated that there was possibly an extreme El Nino during this time since an unusually big amount of tropical cyclones were reported in the East Pacific in 1901, although the possible El Nino can not be confirmed.
