The 2005 Atlantic Hurricane Season was an intense, destructive, and hyperactive. Hurricane Katrina was the costliest hurricane ever, costing $200 Billion. The season had 3 Category 5 storms, which is a rare occurrence. The year had 28 named storms and 17 Hurricanes, 8 of which became Major Hurricanes. The most powerful was Philippe with 175 mph winds and a minimum pressure of 900 mbars. 2005 was very costly and caused over 1,000 deaths. 2005 was considered the worst season ever, when it came to destruction and cost.
