John Sidney McCain III (born August 29, 1936), is the Senior United States Senator from Arizona and was a candidate for the Republican nomination for president in the 2008 United States election. He was beat by Mitt Romney. He was also a POW in the Vietnam War from 1967-1973, for 51/2 years.
