Sparks' acting credits include the documentary The Serious Business of Happening (2007) and the short comedy Validation (2007). In 2005 he worked as assistant director on the short comedy Better Unsaid, which features Jenny Deiker and Donna Rooney. Between 2004 and 2009, Sparks was the assistant to actor Harry Dean Stanton on the television series Big Love. Most recently Sparks has worked as Executive Producer and Producer on the comedy On Holiday (2010) and The Black Belle (2010) and Associate Producer on the crime drama The Power of Few (2012, with Christian Slater, Jeff Imada, and James Lew).
