USS Dardanius (NCC-1871) was an Avenger-class heavy frigate on active duty in Starfleet during the late 23rd century. She was commissioned in November, 2252, and refit and recommissioned in January, 2278. (Ships of the Star Fleet) The registry number and class of Dardanius conflicts with that of USS Coral Sea (Orion Press: Chekov's Enterprise). Dardanius and Coral Sea may exist in two different continuities. Dardanius' commanding officer, from the early 2290s to 2304, was Robert Gossenberger. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Star Survey")
