Beginning sometime after the deaths of Frieza, Cooler, and King Cold, the war was caused by internal discord amongst the remainder of the Elite forces as to whom should lead the organization and what direction it should take. The conflict was further complicated by the rebellion of numerous subjugated races and the arrival of the fierce warriors of the New Saiyan Army -- a contingent of surviving Saiyans.
