C. Montague Shaw (1882-1968) played Clay King in the 1938 movie serial Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars. An Australian character actor, Shaw was a familiar figure in movie serials, often as professors, police chiefs, or other authority figures, and appeared opposite Buster Crabbe as Professor Elias Huer in the 1939 Buck Rogers serial, a year after his Flash appearance.
