Rupert Thorne and his gang were set to have a meeting with Arnold Stromwell at the restaurant regarding their mob rivalry. When Stromwell arrived, he sent his associates outside, as did Thorne so they could talk in private. Stromwell was more concerned about where his son was, but Thorne denied any involvement. He then tricked Stromwell into taking a seat as he made his way to the exit and blew the restaurant up. Fortunately, Batman had overheard Thorne’s plan and saved Stromwell from the explosion. As Pete's went up in flames, Detective Bullock expressed sorrow, stating how he really liked its cannolis.
