Theia was a supposed wandering planet in the formation of the solar system that collided with earth some 4,400,000,000 years ago according to the giant impact hypothesis. Theia is a name from Greek mythology, she was the mother of Selene, the moon, which was supposedly formed in the collision of Earth and Theia.
