Indirect Combat is combat initiated when an indirect combat unit (such as artillery or Rocket Launchers attacks another unit. Only the attacking side gets an attack in indirect combat, even if another indirect combat unit is attacked. Indirect combat units are often useful near places such as bridges where normally only two units can fight each other at a time, and they are deadly in fog of war where it is very hard to spot an indirect combat unit in the forest. Grit is a CO that specializes in indirect combat units.
