As Danny returned to base, he felt an exhilaration he had never felt before, a cold, dark exhilaration at avenging those 1 billion souls who had perished before these alien invaders. As he returned, he thought, ‘What if they track us back to base?’ but it was too late for that, as that they were already only 2 miles away. If the aliens were tracking them, they had already found the base, or at least would know the general vicinity of the base.
