Captain Jean Lémieux was a UNSC Navy officer originally stationed in the Hyacinth system where he commanded a Paris-class frigate attached to the Hyacinth defence fleet. During the first weeks of the Siege of Jacinto, Captain Lémieux became the temporary commander of the Hyacinth defence fleet following the death of Admiral Vincent Clare. Lémieux regrouped the defence fleet around Jacinto, and held out there until the arrival of the UNSC 30th Fleet in late-October, 2551. During the siege, Captain Lémieux became a distinguished leader which later caught the eye of Admiral Geir Gulbrand, who later recommended him for a promotion to Rear Admiral.
