The trinity is a powerful concept in all forms of christianity. This line references this as well as prefiguring the later track Multitude of Casualties and the line opened up three buttons. An economical line which connects many of the albums main themes; faith, drugs and crime (in this case theft). Another notable pop culture reference to three open buttons is from Parents Just Don't Understand by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince: "She had opened up three buttons on her shirt so far/ I guess that's why I didn't notice that police car."
