The F-85 Goblin was a parasite fighter developed for the United States Air Force in the late 1940s after World War II. It was designed to be carried on trapezes in the bomb-bays of specially modified bombers, where it would be lowered down, attached by a hook on the nose, and released. Similarly, it then had to be carefully reattached to trapeze as it had no landing gear. The concept proved difficult and it was canceled with only two prototypes built. The Goblin had a distinctive egg-like fuselage and a fork-like tail.
