Jericho Ross was the Science officer of the Discovery (NX-04) (Poseidon) . He was handpicked by Captain Tim Samuel to fill that position and for the moral support. Jericho was a very spiritual individual. He was Samuel's confidant when it came to tough issues / decisions. The two had many shared experiences and understood each other. Jericho was somewhat mystical at times, to the point of being scary. He has a kindred understanding of the unknown, and hence the Romulans (i.e. unseen enemy). He had much wisdom, beyond his years.
