In Swiss folklore, the Tatzlwurm was a dragon-like creature which had 4 legs, claws and the ability to breathe fire. Other accounts said it had a lizard's head, a cat's face, a very long tail, scales, and bristles. Its scales were so thick that blades could not penetrate it. It also had the ability to stand on its hind legs and to breathe poison. It ate wandering cattle and lost children, and resided in the caves found in the Alps. Other names for it were the Stollenwurm, Tunnel Worm, Jumping Worm, and Mountain Stump.
