Phantump lived with other Phantump, Pumpkaboo, one Gourgeist and one Trevenant. When Jon, Maria and Kyle went near his shrine, him along with the other Pumpkaboo and Phantump began to attack them, after thinking they had stolen a piece of it. After the misunderstanding was cleared up, they all began the search for the missing piece and found out the Pangoro had it. The Pangoro attack Phantump, with Jon getting in the way and taking the attack, which led to Phantump wanting to join Jon.
