Leonard James Styles (31 December 1893 - 11 January 1961) was a Labour Party politician in the Southwark area. Born in Southwark, he was the son of George Styles, a basket-maker, and by the age of 17 had taken the trade himself. By the 1920s he was a member of the Southwark Board of Guardians and from the 1930s of Southwark Borough Council as a councillor and later an alderman. He was Mayor of Southwark for 1944-45. In early 1945 he became the chair of a newly-formed Southwark Excavation Committee which carried out excavations among the heavily bombed areas of the borough.
