re'Trenat was a male al'Hmatti who led the anti-Klingon rebellion on the planet taD in the 2370s. He wrote for many political publications, under different bylines, exhorting his people to rise up against the Klingon Empire, and also attempted to have Emperor me'Grmat XIX to do the same. He also authorized terrorist acts against the Empire, such as the bombing of a topaline processing plant. Following the recall of Governor Tiral and installment of Emperor Vall, re'Trenat was made the minister of defense of the native government. (TNG novel: Diplomatic Implausibility)
