Edmund Barnes (19 May 1842 - 8 October 1926) was a local politician, schoolteacher and magistrate in the St Pancras area. Born in Blandford, Dorset, from 1850-1858 he was a chorister at Wimborne Minster. On his death he bequeathed a legacy which continues today as the Edmund Barnes Charity for Organ and Choir Fund. In 1885 he was elected to the London School Board, representing the Marylebone Division which included St Pancras along with Hampstead, Paddington and St Marylebone as an Independent. He was re-elected on five occasions, holding his seat until the board was abolished in 1904.
