The Smart Grid Advisory Committee was established in 2008 by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), as required by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). Members are selected by the DOE secretary from both private and nonfederal public sector stakeholders based on their experience, expertise, and ability to represent the full range of smart grid technologies and services.
